River Days is held right on the Ohio riverfront downtown Mt. Vernon, Indiana. The festival is held to remember the rich historic heritage enjoyed by the Ohio River town. For the 2023 River Days (Sept 8 & 9) the tradition will continue with family favorite events, entertainment, and of course the scrumptious food booths.

Opening ceremonies kick off on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. by the American Legion Post #5 at the corner of Main and Water Streets, and the event wraps up at 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Many events run both Friday and Saturday including the Hydroplane Simulator, ‘Smoke on the Ohio’ BBQ Competition, the Antique Tractor display, FREE inflatable bounce houses and of course plenty of food and craft vendors.

Friday

Friday only events include storyteller Susan Fowler, the Little Miss and Mister River Day’s pageant, a lighted boat parade, music by Wolfgang’s Orchestra, and fireworks at dusk.

Saturday

Saturday only events start with a 5K Run to the River, the Classic Car Show, a pet parade, the Talent Show, a Magic Show, the marching parade, several music performances, and awards for the Half-Pot Drawing and Pay-It-Forward.
